SNEHALAYA

Saving 1000+ Homeless and Mentally Ill in India

According to a census, there are about 1.77 million homeless people in India. This figure includes those living in urban and rural areas, though the actual number is likely higher due to the transient nature of homelessness and underreporting.

Approximately 350,000-530,000 homeless individuals in India may be suffering from mental illness.from some form of mental illness. This includes conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression.

For 15 years, Snehalaya has been a sanctuary for homeless and mentally ill individuals, founded and led by Joseph Crasta, a humanitarian at heart. Snehalaya provides not only treatment but also a loving home, offering care, compassion, and stability. Through its transformative programs, Snehalaya restores hope and dignity to its residents, making a profound difference in their lives.
