It’s heartbreaking but true- every night, millions of orphaned girls go to bed homeless and hopeless, burdened with the weight of a future that seems bleak and unforgiving.
At GHAR – Sant Ishwar Foundation, founded by Col Mickie Uberoi Retd, they rewrite this story of despair into one of hope and opportunity. It’s more than just a building—it’s a sanctuary for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable girls, a place of care for disabled women, and a welcoming space for the elderly. Here, we create a strong sense of family, where each individual is guided towards growth and transformation.
Every person in their care receives nourishment, healthcare, and a wide range of opportunities for education, recreation, and personal development. Having a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, GHAR provides a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring that it is truly a home where lives are transformed.
They’re not just a shelter; they’re a foundation for growth, strength, and the possibility of a brighter future. For orphaned girls, they provide a nurturing home and quality education, empowering them to dream beyond survival and unlock their full potential.
GHAR’s Impact:
Since their inception, they’ve:
Colonel Mickie Uberoi (Retd), while still a cadet in the National Defence Academy (NDA), envisioned creating a home for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children; a dream that he carried with him throughout his life as a soldier and beyond. With determination and a heart full of compassion, he used his life’s savings and borrowed funds to bring this dream to life, founding GHAR. His journey didn’t stop there, he expanded his vision to include women with disabilities and the elderly, creating a place where people of all generations could find love, belonging, and dignity. GHAR is the embodiment of Col Mickie Uberoi’s unwavering commitment to giving back and transforming lives.
