HER HAQ

a Young Girl stands for change

In India, the issue of women’s safety and rights remains a pressing concern. With nearly 30% of women experiencing physical violence and over 400,000 reported cases of crimes against women each year, it’s clear that the country struggles with deeply ingrained patriarchal norms. These issues are compounded by the fact that many women are unaware of their legal rights or lack the means to access the justice system. This gap in knowledge and support leaves countless women vulnerable, unable to seek the protection and justice they deserve.

Her Haq is an initiative designed to change this narrative by empowering women with the knowledge and resources they need to claim their legal rights. Her Haq provides a platform where women can access educational resources, legal advice, and a community of support. The initiative focuses on critical issues like domestic violence, workplace harassment, and the legal rights of women, offering guidance on how to navigate the often intimidating legal system. By making this information accessible, Her Haq ensures that women can take informed steps to protect themselves and their families.

The impact of Her Haq’s work has been substantial. Her Haq has impacted over 650 people across six states, distributed more than 10,000 sanitary pads, and partnered with over 20 organisations to amplify their efforts. By empowering women with knowledge and legal tools, Her Haq is contributing to a shift towards a more just and equitable society. Their work not only helps individual women but also contributes to broader societal change, challenging the norms that have long suppressed women’s rights in India.
