Studies demonstrate that access to libraries significantly boosts literacy rates and educational outcomes. According to a report by UNESCO, communities with readily available educational resources, like libraries, show higher literacy rates and enhanced lifelong learning (UNESCO, 2018).
Now, imagine having a whole district without a single library.
Our ‘Hero’ experienced the lack of good books and introduced the concept of libraries. This is helping children weave larger dreams and know the world from a new perspective. It’s creating a revolution!
Watch their story and be their Cape! You could join this cause too.
Seemanchal Library Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by dedicated youth from the community. Their mission is to establish libraries, organise book exhibitions, and engage in various activities in the remote rural areas of Kishanganj district. We are committed to bringing underprivileged children into the world of books, offering free education and access to knowledge. Since 2021, they’ve established two permanent community libraries, the Fatima Sheikh Library and the Savitri Bai Phule Library and Community Centre in Kishanganj. Their work has positively impacted over 700 children, particularly girls from Dalit and Muslim minority backgrounds.
